Women Wing of CMA Honours War Widows

Women wing of the Chandigarh Management Association today honoured 4 war widows at a special solemn ceremony to commemorate the day on which Flt. Lt. Maheesh Trikha, made supreme sacrifice while defending the country.

Martyr Flight Lieutenant Maheesh Trikha laid down his life for the country in ‘Operation Meghdoot’ while being on an operational sortie in a Cheetah Helicopter of 114 Helicopter Unit of the Indian Air Force at Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Col. Uma Vasudeva (Retd.), Chiarperson (Army Welfare) –CMA said that the country is proud of our Jawans who fight with resolute and valour to save the honour of the Motherland and inspired the youth present on the occasion to join armed forces, which she said is noble career.

Ms. Indu Sharma, convener of the CMA Women Wing said that our nation is secured in the hands of our armed forces and CMA in its own humble way salutes the Martyrs like Ft.Lt. Maheesh Trikha.

Present on the occasion were many serving and retired army and Air-force officers, besides the proud parents of the Martyr Ft.Lt. Maheesh Trikha.

Mrs. Swadesh Trikha, mother of the Martyr informed that in memory of her son, a Foundation was set up with an objective to brighten up all aspects of human life – from safe childbirth to a dignified old age. Besides other objectives, the foundation assist in rehabilitation of the war widows and the families of the Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.

On the occasion Smt. Jaswant Jeet Kaur, Smt. Karamjit Kaur, Smt Gurinder Kaur and Smt. Tej Kaur widows of Army personnel were honoured.
