Organised Interactive Meet on “Emerging Trends in Vocational Education and skills”
CMA launched its skills development programme for the year 2010-11 with an Interactive Meet on “Emerging Trends in Vocational Training” at ITFT Chandigarh on Sunday, 25th July followed by a press conference.
Visiting Professor Dr. Alistair Baker from Motherwell College, Scotland was the main speaker. While speaking on the occasion, he gave an overview of the status of the vocational training and skills development programmes in Scotland and said that new trends are emerging for taking vocational training programmes at higher educational level.
He said that for imparting practical training to students, new methods and technologies are being used rather than only delivering theoretical lectures. The most popular vocational training skills in Scotland are catering, leisure services, tourism, business management, and information technology, film craft, media and animation designs.
Dr. Alistair said that there is thirst for education amongst the youth of Scotland and Scottish institutions provide cheapest education in UK. He said that the vocational skills are being imparted under British-funded skills development programme.
Dr. Baker appreciated the efforts of CMA to take up skills development programme under the guidance of Dr. Gulshan Sharma president, CMA and Chairman, ITFT Education Group.
