‘Outlook for the Global Economy over the Next Decade
Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organised a seminar on ‘Outlook for the Global Economy over the Next Decade here today. The key speaker Ms. Clare Moonan of International Business, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, said ‘Common Wealth Games have put India in the spotlight on the Global stage’ and that India could bear the impact of worst ever global recession has surprised many world leaders.
She said that global recession has probably ended and the economy is still on the recovery path, however, she added that sustainability of the complete recovery could be fragile. While talking about Europe, Moonan said that to sustain the economic recovery in Europe, the EU must ‘think European’ and operate within the European market places.
While talking about US Economy she said that President Obama’s fiscal policies have worked some what but creation of more jobs continues to bother US. She said many economic organisations have predicted that US Economy will grow at 2.4%, against UK 0.6% in the next decade and India’s GDP will grow on an average 6.3% due to strong domestic market and less reliance on imports, however, increasing fiscal deficit will remain a worry.
