Yoga is best known tool to ward off stresses of modern day life.

Focus, Meditate and have faith in yourself

Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organised a workshop on “Meditational Techniques for Stress Management” at Regional Institute of Co-operative Management (RICM) here today. Mr. Balwant Gurunay, attitudinal and stress management trainer made one hour presentation.

Gurney said that the human brain is a factory of chemicals. It is a pot of electrochemical activity that affects us and our lives. Most of the time, he said, we become victim of irrational ways of thinking
and we catastrophize, overgeneralizing, or turn to selective abstraction, i.e. we see only the negatives but missing the positive details of the situation. In his presentation he brought out this truth in a simple manner and provided simple but effective tools to balance this psychosomatic imbalance with some somatic as well as psychological activities.

Mr. Gurunay said our every day life the kind of situations we meet like traffic jams, meeting deadlines to complete a task, overload of work at hand, and modern life style interspersed between computers, television serials, marital conflicts, social and family responsibilities etc., are some of the causes for increase in the stress level in our life. He said yoga and meditation are best known tools to ward off stresses of modern day life.

Col Karamjeet Singh, president CMA, while initiating the work shop, said that we get stressed out due to fear of the future, worry of the past and anxiety of the present situations such as a state of affairs which are not acceptable to us, or when we want to do something but are unable to do, or when our ego is hurt and many of these situations are of our own making.
