CMA Celebrate “World Tourism Day” with Pomp and Show

Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) jointly with ITFT Education Group celebrated “World Tourism Day” as Tourists cum Citizen Security Day on September 26 at ITFT College Campus at Mullanpur. The day marked culture events performed by the students of ITFT College. They performed dances on the tunes of Bollywood songs, Bhangra dances and also Russian and Mexico dances performed by foreign faculty of the institute. There was a quiz contest as well declamation contest on the topic of “Emerging Trends in Security Services”


Sh A.R.Talwar, principal secretary, home affairs and justice, Punjab, who was the chief guest, said that the security of the tourists is central to the growth of tourist industry, which can contribute considerably to the economy of the state as well as country. He said that Government of Punjab has established institutions for providing security training to the police personnel near Hoshiarpur and Mohali. He congratulated CMA and ITFT executive director Dr. Gulshan Sharma for celebrating the day as security of tourists.

On this occasion, ITFT Education group conferred a life time achievement award on Writer and Tourism Veteran, Sh Pran Seth, for his contribution towards tourism, and on this occasion his book “Lahore to Delhi… Rising from ashes” was also released.

Col. Karamjeet Singh (Retd.), president of CMA said that security issues are becoming hot topics, since wide variety of security threats haunts the tourists, which now include racial attacks, flu pandemic, protection to their sensitive electronic information etc. and added that in the recent past certain incidences of molestation and rapes of the female foreign tourists in Chandigarh shows that the youth of the city needs to be sensitised about the importance and security of the tourists, if we have to position the city as a tourist hub.

ITFT College also conferred an award of honour on Chandigarh Management Association for its contribution in bringing awareness to the youth for managing and coping up with various issues of city management. The award was received by Col. Karamjeet Singh, president CMA
