“Building Futurist Leaders with Global Mindset”

Goals of the futurist leaders should be SMART
Retain your national cultures, while learn to coexist with other cultures”: D.K.Bakshi

“Globalization and advancement in the technology has created a host of new challenges for the futurist leaders, such as increases in competitiveness, cross culture management and the information intensity that created perpetual uncertainty in everyday life”, said Mr. D.K.Bakshi, Executive Director, Indo Thai Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok while delivering a talk on “Building Futurist Leaders with Global Mindset” organized by Aryans Business School (ABS) in association with Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) at the press club, Chandigarh.

With an intention to motivate the young minds present on the occasion, Mr. Bakshi said that futurist leaders will have to act SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely). He said that a futurist leader would need to possess global mindset to perceive the world with positive mind and attitude. But, he said, “you need to retain old values, which you have inherited from your elders, and learn how to respect equally the cultures of other nations”.

Mr. Bakshi said that on an average an Indian possesses the ability for multi-tasking and the Indian brain is far more superior to any other nation in the east or west. The only thing, which we lack, is the confidence, discipline, and the pride in being an Indian. India does not need any foreign university to teach us the ingredients of nation building or management of businesses, said Mr. Bakshi, since our own school and collages are the Gurukul of education par excellent in the world, especially in South East Asia.

Earlier while welcoming Mr. D.K.Bakshi Col.Karamjit Singh, President CMA said that it is unfortunate that in this world of globalisation, nations are still fighting to hang on to their own parochial interests putting at bay the interest of the global humanity. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, ABS, welcomed Mr. Bakshi and Dr. Gulshan Sharma, Vice President CMA, summed up the talk eloquently.

  1. We Indians need to be SMARTER, Dr Bakshi also explained. Being SMART in one's profession or business is what each one of us know but being SMARTER is what is needed especially after the lessons that we learnt from Satyam. The 'E', he explained, stands for Ethical conduct and 'R' for resourcefulness or strong relationships. This was truly a great inspiring interaction that indeed ignited the pride of being an Indian.
